PSHE at Beacon Primary School
PSHE encompasses all areas designed to promote children’s personal, social and health development. It gives children the knowledge, skills and understanding that they need to stay healthy and safe, develop worthwhile relationships, respect differences, develop independence and responsibility, to make the most of their own abilities and those of others. It is very closely linked with Every Child Matters, S.M.S.C., and encompasses our work within Citizenship and S.E.A.L.
At Beacon Primary School, PSHE is taught six times per year (once per half-term) through a whole school themed day. The topics covered on the theme days include: New Beginnings, Getting on and Falling out, Going for Goals, Good to be Me, Relationships and Changes. Another part of the SEAL scheme is Say No to Bullying. This part of the scheme is taught during Anti-Bullying Week, which usually takes place in November.
Here at Beacon Primary, children are also exposed to many dates throughout the year that are dedicated to special events. Some of these events include: Jeans for Genes, Armistice Day, Chinese New Year, World Austism Awareness Day, and Fairtrade Fortnight.
